Deepin, a Linux distribution that tries to provide users with a unique, stable, fast, safe, and user-friendly desktop experience based on the latest HTML5 technologies, is now at version 2014.1.

Deepin developers have been hard at work on their new operating system and it looks like they managed to get a lot of fans. This system is one of the most interesting ones that have surfaced in the last couple of years. One of the reasons for its success is the implementation of a new desktop environment that is somewhat different from what other operating systems provide.

It's rather unusual for a Linux distribution to get such a big following in a short amount of time, but it has been done before. Elementary OS is also in a meteoric rise and the simple and elegant desktop is also the reason for its ascent.

"Deepin is a Linux distribution that aims to provide an elegant, user-friendly and stable operating system for users all around the world. Based on HTML5 technology, Deepin Team have developed a series of featured software, such as the brand-new Deepin Desktop Environment, Music Player, Video Player and Software Center. Deepin has developed rapidly in recent years. It has got the support of users from more than 40 countries and regions in the world," say the developers in the official announcement.

According to the changelog, the anti-frozen function of the Dock has been added in the background, a number of system freeze bugs caused by the Dock have been fixed, the response speed of right-click menu has been improved significantly and its memory consumption has been reduced by 90%, the soft control function of the screen brightness has been added in the display module, and a wireless hardware switch prompt has been added in network module.

Also, some functions like subtitle display have been strengthened for DMovie, numerous translations have been updated, downloading updates for the system should now work properly, and two new modes, "Efficient Mode" and "Classical Mode," have added in the Dock program.

Deepin 2014 also comes with its well-known in-house built applications, such as the Deepin Software Center, from where users can install additional applications, Deepin Music Player, DPlayer, as well as the Deepin Desktop Environment, DPlayer.

You can download Linux Deepin 2014.1 right now from Softpedia. Users are advised not to install, use, or evaluate the distribution on a virtual machine, as it may not function as intended, mostly because of the Compiz window manager. Because of this, future releases of Linux Deepin will include a different window manager.
